SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION:

This description summarizes the requirements of a Shipper/Receiver employee performing in the Maysteel Facility. Responsible for assisting production work in the factory environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Maintain safe work environment (i.e., use of personal protective equipment, proper use of lift truck, etc.).
  • Obtain Maysteel Forklift Certification and Crane Operation Certification.
  • Start up and stop equipment.
  • Familiarize yourself with the tools and instrumentation.
  • Clean production area (sweep, mop, and remove debris).
  • Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies.
  • Feed or place items onto equipment for processing.
  • Mark parts for identification.
  • Scrap waste material from machine into proper scrap dumpster locations.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks and make sure each incoming delivery matches the company purchase order.
  • Take instructions from the management/supervisory staff.
  • Conserve resources and supplies to facilitate minimum waste.
  • Work from routings, manufacturing instruction sheets, blueprints, visual aids, or other instructions to manufacture product at required quality levels.
  • Work closely with the materials group to monitor inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with inventory specialists and materials group to determine when product is missing in a delivery.
  • Print daily sales receipts and cross-check with computer software to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare and print shipping labels corresponding to shipping needs.
  • Assemble and fill boxes and other cartons with items that need to be shipped.
  • Affix proper postage to each package in preparation for shipping.
  • Process orders based on the buyer's preferred shipping system (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.).
  • Contact carrier and schedule shipping for each package.
  • Receive packaging slips daily into the computer system.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Previous experience operating lift trucks preferred.

Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequency changing dynamics.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs. Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Will work under closely with Facility Operators, Material buyers, Material Planners and the Operations Management team to perform duties related to production.
