Job Summary:
The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory Technologist I, Transplant Immunology. The successful candidate will:
- Participate in the 24-hour coverage of the Transplants Laboratories.
- Be responsible for the performance of all phases of Histocompatibility testing, including but not limited to cross-matching; serologic, cellular, and DNA determination of lymphocyte compatibility for organ and tissue transplantation.
- Be responsible for Phenotyping of T and B lymphocytes, including cell surface markers.
- Conduct the preparation of deceased and live donor and recipient lymphocytes for cross-match and HLA typing by DNA.
- Perform the detection and identification of anti-donor antibodies by Luminex technology.
- Be on-call/recall for emergency services.
- Participate in external and internal quality assurance and Proficiency Testing programs.
- Conduct the preparation and storage of cell, sera, and reagent, rate-controlled freezing (liquid nitrogen) of cells, and proper disposal of used material and waste.
- Perform phlebotomy.
- Be responsible for the documentation, interpretation, management, reporting, and recording data.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological/Chemical Sciences.
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
- 5+ years of laboratory experience.
- Experience in HLA typing by serology and DNA methods and Flow Cytometry.
