The Associate Director, EPCM Procurement Process Owner in the Development & Manufacturing Procurement organization supports the Drug Substance, Drug Product, & Lebanon capital procurement teams that enable the Global Facilities Delivery organization. In this role you will design, construct, modify, & qualify administrative, development, and manufacturing facilities by designing & administering standardized capital procurement processes. These processes will be applied across the capital procurement teams to enable consistent and predictable project delivery within project cost and schedule objectives.

The Capital Project Procurement teams are responsible for the acquisition of engineering, automation, equipment and construction by leading category-based procurement strategies, supplier selection, contract negotiations, & supplier relationship management with key global suppliers, as well as, providing account management to ensure alignment between Procurement and its business partners.

Key Objectives:

  • Develop and provide consistent leadership of capital procurement processes that cover business partner agreement, project procurement strategy & planning, market engagement & category strategy alignment, sourcing & contracting execution, contract & claims management, project & risk management practices, and supplier relationship management, in agreement with corporate Procurement & Financial practices.
  • Develop and roll out global metrics to measure the effectiveness of capital procurement in achieving project objectives and maintaining compliance with Procurement practices. Continually drive process improvement across projects using metrics.
  • Provide strategic insights into potential risks of projects and overall global capital plan. Identify and implement strategies to mitigate risks in a way that support Lilly's global long term objectives.
  • Maintain external visibility of best in class procurement for major capital deployment through active external benchmarking and information gathering including the use of automation and technology for processes
  • Apply deep capital procurement expertise through influence of global project teams and senior management in the development of large capital project procurement strategies to ensure predictable project performance in alignment with cost and schedule objectives.
  • Influence internally and externally to ensure consistent application of sourcing activities across engineering, construction, equipment, and automation categories for all capital projects.
  • Contribute to the development of robust category strategies and ensure supplier risk management activities are appropriate for market conditions & business objectives.
  • Develop expertise in capital procurement processes for project and procurement leaders through coaching, training, development plans, and new experiences to facilitate higher levels of performance and efficiency, cross-team/category collaboration, broader individual capabilities, and a team of engaged well qualified resources that can fill future openings for leaders and individual contributors.
  • Cross functional collaboration with capital audit teams to ensure world class controls are included in contracts and procurement strategy.
  • Engage in internal (organizational, functional, & project) and external governance activities to exert procurement influence, provide commercial leadership, ensure collaborative relationships, and establish appropriate execution strategies, and demonstrate strategic problem solving.
  • Develop in project procurement strategies in project profile phase to enable successful post-funding project execution and periodically lead capital project procurement efforts, as required.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in scientific, engineering, business, supply chain, procurement or other professional field.
  • 10+ years of capital procurement sourcing experience
  • Capital project procurement leadership inclusive of design, construction, equipment, and commissioning on projects exceeding $1B

Additional Preferences:
  • Demonstrated mastery of core sourcing skills - account management, category and supplier strategy development, spend analysis, sourcing, negotiation, and collaborative supplier relationship management.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, or lead teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience building relationships, influencing, and working effectively without formal reporting relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Procurement project management/process design/governance
  • Capital project controls, metrics, and governance processes
  • Leadership/supervision experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of cGMP requirement and manufacturing processes
Other Information:
  • This is a full-time position located in Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Flexibility to support sites in multiple time zones is required.
  • Travel percentage: 10-15%, international travel required.
