Job Summary
The Braille Transcriber II provides support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for transcribing educational materials into alternative formats (Braille, large print) for students with visual impairments and/or teachers; responds to questions from students, parents, and staff regarding methodologies and available resources; provides training and technical guidance; and maintains resource inventory for teachers and students.
This job reports to the Special Education Director.
Requirements / Qualifications
This is a 40-hour/ week, 9.5 month (185 days) following the traditional school calendar**

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience Job related experience is required.
Education High school diploma or equivalent.
Equivalency Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school and two (2) years of varied clerical office experience including one (1) year of demonstrated experience in Braille transcription work.
Certificates Valid Literary Braille Certificate issued by the Library of Congress or approved equivalent such as the National Certification in Unified English Braille (NCUEB) issued by the National Blindness Professional Certification Board.
