Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Activities Director in the delivery, development and implementation of a stimulating activity program encompassing physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual activities. May be required to possess a CDL License.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Follows and facilitates monthly calendar of activities and all guidance from Activities Director while conducting programs and events that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities and challenges for the residents
  2. Ensure Safety for all Residents
  3. Provides assistant in administrative functions as directed/instructed by the Activities Director, the Administrator, the Executive Director, or his/her designee in accordance with established facility policies and procedures
  4. Assists with scheduled trips and outside activities; supervises residents during outings
  5. Prepares bulletin boards and displays
  6. Decorates common living areas for festivities and the current holiday season
  7. Informs Activities Director when supplies are needed. Prepares supplies for upcoming activities
  8. Invites all residents to attend activities. Builds enthusiasm for the programs. Welcomes new residents
  9. Passes on recommendations and requests for new programs and activities to Activities Director
  10. When appropriate, logs attendance of activities and programs
  11. Treats all residents, families and staff with respect, dignity, hospitality and addresses the residents and the staff in a courteous and professional manner
  12. Portrays a professional image within Regency and the local community by dressing in a professional manner and by maintaining a courteous decorum consistent with resident acceptance and interest
  13. Utilizes community services and volunteers as appropriate
  14. Request assistance with residents in crisis, when appropriate
  15. Greet visitors in polite and professional manner, while reporting suspicious persons to supervisor or other management personnel
  16. Ensure guests and vendors abide by facility's rules and safety regulations
  17. Assist Activities Director and other management staff as needed or directed
  18. All Activities Assistant may need to be certified to drive all company vehicles as they may be required to help in the transportation of Residents
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Must be willing to obtain a CDL License if needed
  2. Demonstrates an interest in working with a senior population
  3. Demonstrates a warm and outgoing personality. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
  4. Willing to work flexible hours, such as during evenings and weekends for planned activities and events
  5. Must function with minimum supervision and have the flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, the resident's family members and coworkers
  6. Has obtained a minimum of a high school diploma
Typical Physical Demands:
  1. Extended standing, walking, ascending/descending stairs, full range of motion, ability to life/carry medium weight (up to 50 pounds), light pushing/pulling (up to 60 pounds), corrected vision and hearing, and a sense of touch for carrying out programs and activities
  2. Verbal and written communication in the English language necessary to communicate and work effectively with various levels of staff, residents, family members and the public, and for required written documentation or reports
  3. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
