Job Summary

The Legal Analyst - Investments ("Analyst") will report to the Associate Counsel, Investments, primarily supporting all in-house legal work for GuideStone Financial Resources' ("GSFR") Investments business unit, GuideStone Investment Services ("GSIS"), an exempt investment adviser to charitable organizations, GuideStone Capital Management, LLC ("GSCM"), a registered investment adviser, and GuideStone Funds ("Funds"), a registered mutual fund family. The Analyst will perform all first-line legal work for the Investments business unit.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate with other functions within GSFR's Investments business unit (including Portfolio Management, Investment Services, and Fund Ops) for intake of requests for contract or other legal document review
  • Perform initial review of service requests and respond to inquiries as able, and escalate requests as needed
  • Assist with initial review of all contracts related to the Investments business unit
  • Perform legal research and analyze legal issues as directed
  • Coordinate and track deliverables from outside counsel and consultants
  • Maintain project status information and monitor status of deliverables
  • Assist with the implementation of web-based solution platforms
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.), preferred
  • Preferred experience working as a paralegal or analyst at an in-house legal department or law firm or working in a contracts-management, compliance, or risk-management role
  • Basic understanding of and strong interest in the investment management industry and the laws and regulations applicable to investment advisers and funds preferred
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to interpret questions and assist others not familiar with complex legal terminology or issues
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiate appropriate action to resolve issues with the appropriate degree of supervision
  • Ability to give clear, concise directions, instructions and guidance to others
  • Ability to perform legal research using LexisNexis or other tools
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to assess and manage multiple priorities
  • Command of a variety of software applications to accomplish work tasks and ability to implement efficient systems for organizing work
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with every level of GSFR staff and outside counsel, including timely and effective collaboration and responsiveness
  • Actively contributes to departmental goals for process maturity and increased efficiencies
  • Agility and attitude to succeed at learning and applying new knowledge and skills
  • Proficient skills in MS Office and appropriate GuideStone system applications
  • Complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business and personnel matters
