A retail energy provider (REP) in Houston seeks a Retail Portfolio Management Analyst (or Senior Analyst) to analyze and forecast retail electricity products and key portfolio valuation components for its corporate and industrial (C&I) customers within the Texas, Northeast, Canadian, and California markets. The position is responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of customer product volumes, revenue/cost components, and other customer data for a complex portfolio of C&I customers across a mix of company systems, forecasting MTM forward costs and evaluating contracts, products, and portfolio performance in support of the broader load forecasting team and the retail portfolio traders. Responsibilities: Developing a thorough understanding of load and modeling components for deregulated retail electricity customers by ISO, including complex C&I customers. Maintaining a strong knowledge of electricity market hedge instruments (including settlement mechanisms), volatility attributes, liquidity constraints, portfolio management and optimization, energy supply stack, power markets, etc.). Extracting C&I power data (ISO-, regional-, zonal-, and congestion-level) from company sources and load forecasting systems using Oracle, SQL, SQL Server, etc. Analyzing key components of the C&I retail portfolios (customer profiling, tracking volumes, understanding product mix sold, tracking billings, and ensuring all components are tracked up to the portfolio level). Producing customer and portfolio segmentation reports that provide demand forecast updates, analysis of retail power components, settlement analysis, and performance analytics. Partnering with IT to develop applications to streamline processes, extract and mine large datasets, create front-end applications for visualization, implement code enhancements, and conduct user testing. Ability and willingness to learn regression modeling (including neural-net, simple regression, and hybrid modeling) and statistical analysis to construct performance metrics (MAD, MAPE, etc.). Essential Requirements Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field. An advanced degree in a numerate field is a plus. 2-10 years of professional experience in power load forecasting, product control, retail power pricing, retail gross margin accounting, or power settlements. The position title (Analyst or Senior Analyst) will be based on professional experience. Knowledge of and proficiency with data extraction, analysis, and reporting across complex system structures. Proficiency in trending analysis and short- and long-term forecasting. Knowledge of load forecasting and statistical methods (or ability and willingness to learn). Working knowledge of Excel and experience with SQL Server or Oracle SQL is a plus. Moderate programming skills (VBA, scripting, Python, MATLAB, R, SAS) are a plus (or ability and willingness to learn).
