Technology Policy Analyst LOCATION: Washington, DC ORGANIZATION: Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) POSITION TITLE : Technology Policy Analyst DURATION: Full Time SALARY : $100,000-$120,000 OVERVIEW: The Organization. The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) is the principal trade association for the those in the business of information. Our members include over 400 firms involved in academic publishing, education technology, and financial information, along with creators of software and platforms used by millions all over the world. Function. SIIA seeks a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Policy Fellowship Program as a Technology Policy Analyst for an initial one-year term. Fellows will conduct in-depth research and writing for both expert and lay audiences on mission-critical technology policy issues including competition law, free speech, intermediary liability, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, privacy and data protection, and cross-border data flows. The fellowship is an excellent opportunity for candidates who want to gain hands-on experience in policy research, writing, and advocacy in a fast-moving and influential industry. Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct research and analysis on public policy issues relevant to the tech and information sectors, in areas such as competition, free speech, intermediary liability, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, privacy and data protection, and cross-border data flows. Write in-depth white papers, reports, and policy briefs that provide insights and recommendations to industry stakeholders, policymakers, and the public. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the federal and state levels that impact the tech industry. Assist in drafting public comments, testimonies, and other advocacy materials. Collaborate with the policy team to contribute to thought leadership on emerging technology policy issues. Attend meetings, hearings, and briefings on relevant policy topics and represent the association when appropriate. Present research findings to senior leadership, industry groups, and policymakers, as appropriate. Minimum Requirements: Master's degree or higher in public policy, law, economics, political science, or a related field. Candidates with J.D. or Ph.D. degrees are also encouraged to apply. Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise written materials. Demonstrated interest or experience in technology policy, including at least two of the following: competition law, free speech issues, intermediary liability, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, privacy and data protection, and cross-border data flows. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Experience with public policy organizations, think tanks, or governmental agencies is a plus, but not required.
