The Forensic and Litigation Associates work as a member of the Client Services group and can expect a diverse experience ranging from accounting procedures for litigation engagements to the performance of business appraisal and valuation services. This position performs many duties of an advance level forensic accountant including working directly for corporate clients, under the supervision of upper level management.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
Performance of valuation, appraisal and financial analyses, including development of schedules and exhibits for expert testimony.
Design, prepare and review valuation and spread sheet models including: weighted average cost of capital; discounted cash flow (DCF); guideline public company; relief from royalty and M&A transaction methods
Perform industry research including comparable publicly-traded companies (using Capital IQ), M&A transactions, industry trends and financial conditions of peer companies
Conduct market research using Internet analytics, comparable licensing transactions, social media analytics, brand and patent research tools
Write and review valuation reports
Contribute to activities at the senior level including interfacing with associates for project management, time management, and general supervision and guidance
Maintain and build team's knowledgeable of relevant statutory codes and valuation best practices
Identify and communicate case issues, finding, and improvement opportunities with managers and partners to resolve client issues discovered during engagements.
Work with discovery team to inventory and reconcile documents and data produced in preparation for submission to courts, attorneys and clients
Assist in preparation of exhibits and background information for expert witness testimony
Maintain and comply with highest degree of professional standards, client confidentiality and personal conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, solid research and analytical skills, and the ability to work well both autonomously and in a team environment
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with CapitalIQ, ktMINE, Royalty Source, Deal Stats, Google Analytics and other research tools
Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Ability to analyze large data sets and simplify/translate into a visual format
Minimum Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
A minimum of two years of experience with valuations of business entities and financial analysis and research
Progress towards professional certification such as CPA, ASA, CFA, CVA, etc.
Solid oral and written communications skills (including ability to develop narrative valuation/expert reports and other client communication materials)
Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet fluctuating deadlines
Strong attention to detail
The annual salary target for this job in this market is $95,000 - $111,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position. The compensation above is not representative of an employee's total compensation.
