The Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh is seeking a Part-Time Parish Accounting Services Bookkeeper! The Part-Time PAS Bookkeeper will work closely with and support the Parish Accounting Service Manager with bookkeeping functions for various parishes, schools, and ministries for whom the Diocese has assumed administrative support of financial record-keeping.

Key responsibilities:

  • Areas of support include, but are not limited to:
    • Bill payment services.
    • Expense reimbursement processing.
    • Check processing.
    • Bank account reconciliations.
    • Financial reporting.
    • Payroll processing, as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between the Diocese and parishes, schools, and ministries for financial-related matters that arise.
  • Provides onsite accounting services and support to parishes and schools, as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, or a related 2-year degree is required.
  • 3 years of professional experience with at least 2 years of direct accounting/bookkeeping experience required.
  • Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices highly preferred.
  • ParishSOFT Accounting experience is preferred. QuickBooks/ACS experience a plus.
  • Professional demeanor reflective of the values and mission of the Diocese of Raleigh.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Customer service background and focus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work remotely and independently in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and completeness of work products is a must.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Diocese (approximately 5-10%).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
