Overview

The

Senior Event Manager

will plan, direct, coordinate, supervise, and assist with all sizes of events from small single meeting room meetings up to and including full venue user events at the Convention Center. They will manage every aspect of their assigned events from the advance planning stages through the end of the event. The

Senior Event Manager

will coordinate with the Safety and Security team to ensure events run smoothly. They will be responsible for and ensure overall customer and lessee satisfaction and experience. The Senior Event Manager, under the direction of the AGM / Director of Events, will research and compile information on best practices for policies and procedures for the Event Services Team. In the absence of the Director of Event Services, the Senior Event Manager will act as the Event Services Team leader. The Senior Event Manager also assists the Director of Event Management in the training and development of Event Managers. The role of Senior Event Manager requires a flexible schedule , including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

This role will pay a yearly salary of $70,000 to $90,000.

Responsibilities Acts as primary client contact during all phases of event management, ascertain client requirements for event set-up, security, ticketing, etc. to ensure event runs as requested. Leads site visits and meetings with clients, their vendors and building departments and partners for all assigned events. Initiates and distributes required paperwork to communicate client requirements to appropriate facility departments. Ensures facility rules, regulations, and policies and procedures are enforced and adhered to. Anticipates problems and develops appropriate solutions. Investigates, analyzes, and solves operational problems and complaints. Assists in inventory, order, and maintenance of Event Services equipment. Prepares work-orders, event lay-outs, work orders, and post event notes for each event. Provides clear, concise, and timely communication of directives to department staff. Inspects completed work for conformance to standards. Observes and submits maintenance request orders for repairs and damages. Assumes the role of the primary contact and works directly with the client and show management once the event has been contracted and assigned. This includes assisting the client with arranging for services needed, the selling of ancillary services, additions/changes to space needs and other client/event support as necessary. Conducts facility inspections pre-, post-, and during events. Monitors the compliance of standard operating procedures of the Event Services Department. Works with relevant departments to ensure the prompt invoicing of clients. Maintains safe, secure, and sanitary working conditions and leave work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Maintains superior interpersonal relations with clients, employees, management, contractors, and union employees. Abides by and models all Human Resources Policies and Procedures. Serves as Manager on Duty as required during scheduled events. Acts as a leader within the Events department, helping develop and coach other team members. Assists with the development of departmental policies and procedures. Assists in the management, development, and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of event related programs. Acts as department leader when Director of Event Services is unavailable. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in hospitality, management, business, or related field 5-7 years of managerial experience in a convention center or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Work independently exercising judgment and initiative with minimal supervision. Maintain an effective working relationship with employees and others encountered through the course of employment. Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills. Good oral, written and computer skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects. Ability to demonstrate problem-solving and communication skills. Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results. Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur. Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form. Operate standard office equipment and personal computer using MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word. Must be able to stand or walk for the duration of the shift and must be able to carry and lift according to industry standards. Supervisory experience required. Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary to functions and may include day, evening, weekends, and holidays. Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic. Adhere to corporate, facility, and department dress codes. Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred. Experience in event management software (Momentus) preferred.
