Job Description
Assists the Director of Financial Operations or Financial Operations Manager with the day-to-day financial functions and analysis in accordance with Children's policies. Continuously performs facility-level financial analysis to ensure achievement of system financial objectives and support of Children's mission. Works closely with the Corporate Finance Department, campus leadership team, and financial operations managers in developing, implementing and monitoring the annual operating and capital budgets, productivity, and business plans. Identifies and implements opportunities to improve financial operations and performance. Proactively supports the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's.
Experience
2 years experience in the accounting and/or finance field Minimum 1-2 years experience in financial analysis and reporting required Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare experience Education
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance Certification Summary
No professional certifications required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills Requires strong analytical skills and an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles Must be able to work with confidential information. Accuracy is essential. Must be detail-oriented Must be a progressive thinker and be able to conceptualize optimal operating and reporting structures Thorough understanding of the general ledger, budgeting systems, and all financial systems required Job Responsibilities
Works directly with the Director, Financial Operations and/or Financial Operations Manager to understand and analyze facility-level variances and interpret the results of operations, focused specifically on areas without a Financial Operations Manager. Conducts daily and monthly revenue, expense and volume monitoring. Produces and distributes standard daily and monthly reports to leaders. Creates and presents pertinent reports that identify facility-level productivity, utilization trends and any other analyses necessary. Identifies red flags and reports to Director, Financial Operations. Analyzes facility-level historical trends and assists in the coordination of the campus annual budget (operating and capital) process, including providing support in making budget changes for areas without a Financial Operations Manager and monitoring impact of daily budget changes. Analyzes productivity trends and assists in preparation of periodic reporting to assist campus leaders in understanding staff utilization relative to actual performance and budget. Educates departments, specifically departments without a Financial Operations manager, on key business policies, processes and guidelines of Children's. Performs facility-level analysis to support quarterly forecasting. Performs general analysis of revenue cycle processes as directed by the Director, Financial Operations and/or Financial Operations Managers. Assists as needed with the management of spending policy funds and grants. Monitors usage of restricted funds and follow-up monthly with departments. Provides regular updates and analysis throughout the capital budget process as well as leading up to the beginning of the process with a current summary of spending versus requests.
