Under direction of the Staff Management Auditor, the Associate Management Auditor will complete a full range of varied and complex analytical staff work in investigations as well as financial, compliance and management audit functions for the DCA. Audits and investigations require a high level of independence and a thorough knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The Associate Management Auditor shall have knowledge of, but not limited to, Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, and the International Professional Practices Framework.
The Associate Management Auditor will independently and proficiently perform complex and difficult engagements (audits, evaluations, and/or reviews) at the first full journey level of the series. These assignments will consist of internal control audits, investigations, and consulting engagements. The Associate Management Auditor will exercise professional judgment and analytical abilities in each phase of the audit engagement, which will include an assessment of the entire audit, the development of specific findings, and drafting of audit report. The Associate Management Auditor will exercise due professional care in the preparation of audit work papers and regularly communicate with the Staff Management Auditor on all audit findings or problems.

Working Conditions The Internal Audit Office is currently on a hybrid work schedule and may be available permanently for employees who can satisfactorily perform their essential work duties independently and remotely; however, this position requires the employee to report to the office based on operational needs. The employee is responsible for any travel costs when reporting to the office. Travel expenses are not reimbursable for travels to the office, which may be required by management on a regular or intermittent basis. This position may require some travel throughout the State of California.

Enforcement of consumer laws is one of DCA's primary responsibilities. The Department's enforcement staff works with the office of the Attorney General and local district attorneys to reduce fraud and enforce disciplinary actions.
The mission of the Internal Audit Office (IAO) is to assist management accomplish its goals and objectives by bringing a systematic, independent approach to governance, control, and risk assessment. Specifically, the IAO reviews the operations of the department, including the boards, bureaus, committees, programs and commissions under the DCA umbrella.
