Organization Overview:

Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for production of API molecules located in Lebanon, IN. This facility is Lilly's largest investment in manufacturing capacity and is intended to provide APIs for current and future products. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the team for the startup of a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will help to build the organization, the facility, and the culture to enable a successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations.

Position Brand Description:

The Engineering Tech Supervisor is responsible for managing the utility and environmental control/tank farm technician team, in addition to being an active team member. The engineering technician team provides frontline technical support for utility, environmental control, and tank farm operations in the areas of: Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Projects. The engineering technician team aids engineers during the investigation of issues and delivery of projects in support of GMP operations. This team ensures that equipment is maintained in a qualified state, can be operated safely, and maintenance is properly and safely performed on the systems.

In the project delivery phase and startup phase of the project (startup expected 2025 to 2027), leadership roles will be fluid and dynamic as we endeavor to support the project delivery, build a new organization, develop and implement the necessary systems and business processes required to support GMP operations, and build the site culture. This will require significant collaboration, creativity and resilience as the site grows to a full scale GMP manufacturing site through start up.

Responsibilities:

Build and promote a strong Safety and Quality culture. Maintain a safe working environment and conduct operations activities in a manner that protects safety, environment, and quality.

Transferring knowledge of equipment capabilities and operational techniques to operations, maintenance, and engineering.

Implementation of corrective actions or recommendations resulting from process hazard reviews, periodic reviews, or other audit findings.

Set objectives and development plans for technicians. Respond to employee relations issues with technicians and escalate to management where necessary.

Project management on small capital or maintenance projects.

Oversee contractor resources required for project and maintenance work orders by tracking and managing contractor estimates and work.

Escalates issues to front line supervisor, operations, and engineering following escalation model.

Finds and eliminates safety / quality issues with equipment and processes.

Understands the production process and critical process parameters.

Manage events as required, ensuring appropriate communication within the team and with external teams. Provide input to investigations.

Assist in maintaining the technical information for, equipment procedures.

Build and develop a team, creating clear common purpose and promoting good team spirit.

Ensure that technicians are appropriately trained, and that operating procedures and training material are available and current.

Communicate appropriately with operators regarding site objectives and team business.

Ensure the team is adequately resourced to meet the business objectives appropriately managing overtime, as necessary.

Specifically, during the startup phase of the Lebanon API site (2025 to 2027) leadership will be expected to be collaborative, inclusive, and support the broader team to:

Build the organization with the necessary capability, capacity, and culture to operate this facility to the highest standards of operational excellence.

Develop and implement the systems and processes needed to run the site, leveraging existing Lilly knowledge and practices where necessary, but also incorporating external experiences and learning.

Ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence by supporting lean principles in their respective area.

Support the project team as they deliver the facility to the site team, by providing feedback and support.

Basic Requirements:

8+ years' experience In Manufacturing (i.e., Operations, Maintenance, or Utilities).

Associate's degree in engineering or equivalent (and relevant) work experience.

Technical understanding of process and/or utility equipment and equipment maintenance.

Ability To Effectively Communicate with and work cross-functionally And Coordinate Activities of Small Groups.

Demonstrated history of strong equipment troubleshooting skills.

Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Experience (GMARS).

Experience in Microsoft Suite (i.e.: Word, Excel) and ability to write technical documents.

Additional Preferences:

Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or technical field

Previous experience in facility/area start-up environments

Demonstrated leadership experience.

Skills in providing/receiving feedback and creating employee development plans.

Solid understanding of FDA guidelines and cGMP requirements.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests.

Strong technical aptitude and ability to train and mentor others.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

Ability to collaborate with a team, make independent decisions, and influence diverse groups.

Ability to instill teamwork within the shift and demonstrate key people skills.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to various audiences, particularly one-on-one coaching, and feedback with direct reports.

Additional Information:

This position is primarily an 8-hour Monday through Friday work schedule, while requiring some off-schedule work and flexibility, particularly during the start-up phase.

Ability to work overtime as required.

Ability to be on call and respond to calls off shift.
