Job Summary:

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for managing an array of financial information and records, for preparing financial statements, participating in month end closing procedures, and for providing administrative support throughout the department.

Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities: Create and post various journal entries. As directed, prepare financial statements by gathering and analyzing information. Perform account reconciliations; maintain reconciliation book. Manage multiple cash accounts and prepare monthly bank reconciliations. Actively participate in financial closings and reporting. Support tax preparation activities as directed. Work to identify areas in need of improvement and to provide recommendations for cutting cost. Continually ensure accuracy of data. Provide ad-hoc reporting as required. Provide additional administrative and department support as directed. Ensure and maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other relevant accounting regulations. Ensure and maintain compliance with the company's quality system requirements through training and adherence to policies, procedures and processes. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX compliance) a plus. Strong knowledge of Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with large enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and accounting software packages. Good math, communication, organizational, and time management skills; ability to pay close attention to detail. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to identify and correct problems. Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent years of experience preferred. Three (3) to (5) years previous accounting and financial experience; previous experience within a manufacturing environment preferred. Practical experience and knowledge of general, cost, and fixed asset accounting and budgeting. Proven experience as a General Ledger Accountant, preferably in clinical research or life sciences industry.
