Bitwise Asset Management
Data Analyst
Bitwise Asset Management, San Francisco, California, United States, 94199
Based in San Francisco or New York City
It's rare that a new asset class is born. Nevertheless, we're witnessing exactly that with the rise of crypto. Over just the last four years, crypto has evolved from an embryonic $350B market to a growing $3T+ juggernaut. At Bitwise, we believe that crypto has reached a turning point, and is headed north of $10T over the next few years.
Our goal at Bitwise is to help investors understand and access the opportunities emerging in the new crypto asset class. We're looking for an exceptional individual to join the Research team as our Data Analyst, where you'll build out and spearhead the Research team's data pipelines, infrastructure, and strategy.
What You Will Do
Design and optimize the backbone of our data architecture, ensuring we can seamlessly analyze vast data streams and leverage insights in real time. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and build automated solutions, helping us focus on high-impact research and ensuring our analysis remains efficient and consistent. Ensure the accuracy and reliability of our data by implementing rigorous validation processes and addressing discrepancies, which is critical for maintaining the trust of our research outputs. Dive deep into the metrics and movements shaping the crypto market, leveraging Python, R, and/or SQL to deliver actionable insights that drive our research and investment strategies forward. Develop and maintain data models, key metrics, and reports, enhancing data infrastructure for better analysis. Work closely with other analysts to contribute to collaborative research projects with robust data analysis, enhancing Bitwise's thought leadership and educational resources. Leverage on-chain and off-chain data to build expertise, analysis, and relationships; generate insightful opinions and narratives that move the ecosystem forward; and educate and inform Bitwise clients. Contribute to Bitwise's product strategy for both traditional financial products and products on the crypto-native/on-chain frontier.
You will have the opportunity to experience rapid growth and work on the highest-impact initiatives within the company. In the process, you will shape research, data, and product strategy at one of the fastest-growing crypto asset managers in the world.

Who You Are
You have 5+ years experience in research, engineering, and/or data-focused roles, including data analysis, data science, data engineering, financial modeling, or research. Previous crypto and TradFi experience is a plus. You are obsessed with crypto and have hands-on experience interacting with crypto protocols (e.g., through app usage, advising a crypto project, participating in a DAO, and/or doing your own deep dives into projects). You have advanced skills in Python, R, and SQL and have experience working in a production coding environment. You're highly skilled in leveraging these languages for data manipulation, analysis, automation, and visualization, and can interact with large data sets programmatically including on-chain data and financial data. You have a knack for extracting insights from vast amounts of data, including structuring and cleaning raw data, performing exploratory data analysis, and creating models to uncover trends and patterns. You pay exceptional attention to detail. Accuracy is your mantra. You rigorously check your work, ensure data quality and integrity across every touchpoint, and pride yourself on delivering insights that are as reliable as they are meaningful. You take a collaborative and communicative approach to your work. You work well with cross-functional teams, can clearly communicate complex findings, and understand how your work supports broader company objectives. The idea of being early on a small team where things change rapidly and everyone pitches in excites you. You understand that contributing to a high-growth company involves wearing many hats and tackling problems outside of your comfort zone.
This role is ideal for someone who is equal parts data wizard, crypto expert, and problem solver, ready to help Bitwise navigate the cutting edge of digital assets with clarity and conviction.
