As a director of events, you will ensure the SCAD brand is cohesively represented at all locations through the management, training, and leadership of the events team. You will oversee all Savannah event planners, hire and train exceptional staff, provide development and mentorship, and identify their learning styles. You will also create an environment that encourages professional development while performing quarterly and annual reviews. In this leadership role, you will work closely with all departments to promote SCAD events and increase audience participation, positive PR, and sponsorship opportunities. You will regularly meet with the executive director of events to provide and receive updates on all events, as well as develop the events calendar, secure dates and locations, and assign proper staffing roles. You will also pitch event ideas, concepts, and décor models to the executive director and communicate the approved concepts to project partners while ensuring the successful completion of these projects.
In this position, you will oversee all aspects of event planning, including scope, risks, guest lists, budgets, timelines, marketing and promotion, visual materials, guest and brand experience, production, run of show, transportation, décor, and on-site implementation, and more. You will determine which resources are required for departmental projects and will forecast, monitor, and manage approved budgets, among other duties. At all events, you will serve as a representative of SCAD and create a positive experience in interactions with guests, hosts, and staff.
The successful candidate demonstrates a high level of creativity and strong knowledge of the SCAD mission and history. Flexible and quick to adapt, the candidate can expertly manage multiple complex projects and deadlines with a positive attitude. Excellent written and verbal communication is essential, as are strong organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. The candidate should also be solutions-oriented.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Six years (min.) of related professional experience and training OR the equivalent combination of education and experience Demonstrated experience in project management, event and team management, and event logistics in a fast-paced environment Travel Required:
20-40%
Work Hours:
The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
