House Manager

The Aspen Music Festival & School (AMFS) House Managers are part of the Front of House (FOH) team, which is responsible for all FOH operations from arrival to the end of each concert, ensuring exemplary customer service and safety to all AMFS patrons. The FOH team is a team of eight, led by the Front of House & Venue Operations Manager and Assistant Front of House Manager, and is present for all open concerts, rehearsals and events which occur at the festival's main performance venues in Aspen, Colorado. These facilities include our 2050-seat Klein Music Tent and the 500-seat Harris Concert Hall. Additionally, the FOH team is involved in events in the local Aspen Community, including recitals at Aspen Chapel, Aspen Center for Physics, Pitkin County Library, and more.
Responsibilities
Train and manage ushers, outlining duties, house rules, and service expectations, including scanning tickets, greeting audiences, and properly addressing audience conflict or misconduct and issues regarding safety of our patrons. Communicate with the Meadows Production Crew throughout each event to execute the seating process and encourage efficient seating. Prepare each venue before every event and ensure program books are stocked and AMFS signage/materials are up to date. Lead pre-event meetings with FOH staff about the event's program and procedures. Ensure all venue entry points are staffed and set up at the proper time. Coordinate with the Director of Ticket Services to forecast and mitigate ticketing and seating issues during high-traffic events. Address all issues that arise related to seating or the Front of House in a professional and service-driven manner. Coordinate with the Director of Ticket Services to reconcile ticket sales, scans, and counts to ensure accurate attendance data. Provide a verbal account of each event to the Meadows Stage Manager for inclusion within the event report. Ensure the proper closure of all facilities on the Meadows Campus after each event. Oversee parking operations on the Meadows Campus during AMFS open events. Submit accurate and detailed Front of House Reports for assigned AMFS events. In this role, there are three positions available for the summer of 2025.
Requirements
Must have management experience, preferably within a presentation hall. Familiarity with classical music and orchestral practices are a plus. Must possess an outgoing demeanor with strong customer service skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail. Candidates must be able to prioritize well and complete multiple tasks quickly, efficiently, and calmly. A humble and durable sense of humor is strongly advised.
Dates
June 23, 2025-August 24, 2025
Compensation
$22.00/hour if you provide your own housing. Overtime $33.00/hour.
Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
OR
$15.81/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $4.91/hour depending on location.) Overtime $22.22/hour
Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
