Position Overview

The

Emergency Department Director

provides both clinical and administrative leadership, ensuring the delivery of exceptional emergency care services. This role involves implementing organizational strategies, overseeing nursing services, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards. The Director also plays a key role in staff development, quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring state trauma designation requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership : Provide clinical and administrative oversight for emergency services, fostering a collaborative team environment. Policy Development : Participate in organizational and nursing policy formulation and decision-making processes. Quality Assurance : Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care, implementing improvements as needed. Staff Management : Recruit, orient, evaluate, and retain personnel; oversee staffing and scheduling. Budget Oversight : Develop and monitor the department budget to ensure cost-effective operations. Regulatory Compliance : Ensure adherence to Joint Commission, CMS, and state/local agency guidelines. Trauma Program : Maintain oversight of the hospital's trauma program to meet state requirements for trauma designation. Qualifications Must-Haves : Licensure : Current RN license in Iowa or a compact state nursing license. Certification : Current BLS certification. Experience : 3-5 years in related clinical practice, including 1-2 years in a clinical leadership role. Nice-To-Haves :

Education : Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (required) or enrollment in a baccalaureate program. A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field is preferred. Certifications : ACLS, PALS (to be obtained within six months of hire) and TNCC (to be obtained within one year). Skills : Strong interpersonal communication, data analysis, and familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
