The Development Officer will be part of a dynamic team tasked with advancing the ongoing strategic direction of CJP's resource development efforts. This person will develop and implement best practices to cultivate integrated philanthropic relationships focusing on the annual campaign, legacy giving, supplemental giving and CJP's donor advised fund program.

This position is a member of the Individual Giving team and plays a crucial role in furthering CJP's ambitious fundraising goals through management of a ~100 donor portfolio. They will work closely with the Senior Director, Major Gifts Strategy to help develop and implement strategies and initiatives/events for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high-capacity major donors and major donor prospects.

Essential Functions: Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects - establishing and maintaining strong personal relationships through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Support and build upon the organization's strategy to identify and attract new donors as well as retain and increase giving among existing donors through targeted cohort-based events, programmatic activities and leadership experiences. Develop sophisticated moves management plans to advance donors' relationships with CJP, utilizing all available donor engagement and involvement opportunities. Solicit gifts directly and prepare other senior colleagues, the president, and volunteer leadership for solicitations. Develop and meet ambitious goals within the framework of strategically developed key performance indicators/metrics. In partnership with CJP's gift planning/legacy colleagues, integrate strategies to identify and develop legacy giving prospects within the portfolio. Successfully close legacy gifts annually. Education:

BA/BS or equivalent experience. Experience:

2-4 years successful experience in development or related field, with an emphasis on fundraising, annual campaign work and donor relations. Skills/Competencies:

Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills Ability to work proactively, independently, creatively, and flexibly in a dynamic environment. Proficient in Windows environment, including MS Word, Excel, Database Management (we use a Blackbaud Product). Capacity to manage and organize confidential information. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Capacity to manage and organize information confidentially. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities. Other:

Strong commitment to the CJP mission. Knowledge of the Jewish community preferred. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends and interest in/willingness to occasionally fly/travel. Organizational Relationships/Scope:

Reports to Senior Director of Major Gifts, has no direct reports.
