Job Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Business/Support Services, the Director of Transportation plans, organizes, and implements all aspects of the transportation systems utilized by the District, including, but not limited to buses, wheel-chair accessible buses, and district-owned vehicles; provides for the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment; facilitates charter bus services and vehicle rentals as needed; directs the creation and revision of bus routes using routing software; utilizes the District's Student Information System to access students' demographic data, as needed; and supervises all personnel assigned to the Transportation Department.

Requirements / Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS Certifications and Licenses 1. Valid unrestricted California Class A or B driver's license with appropriate passenger and air brake endorsements, required. 2. Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates issued by an authorized agency, required. 3. Valid School Bus Operator's Certificate issued by the California Highway Patrol, required. 4. Valid medical card or examination report from the Department of Transportation, required. Education and Experience: 1. Any combination equivalent to the completion of high school, required. 2. Three to five (3-5) years of successful experience as a Certified Bus Driver Instructor, preferred. 3. Three to five (3-5) years of full use and implementation of bus routing software, preferred. 4. Three to five (3-5) years of increasingly more responsible supervision in a bus transportation setting, preferred. Full time position includes district paid health, dental, and vision insurance benefits up to a $15,800 district contribution.
