About the Role
As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and support of advanced automation systems across biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical facilities. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing projects involving Emerson DeltaV and related automation technologies, ensuring regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and system reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end commissioning, configuration, and testing of automation systems, particularly Emerson DeltaV, to meet client specifications and project goals. Manage and execute project documentation, including Risk Assessments, Installation Qualification (IQ), and Operational Qualification (OQ) testing protocols. Develop, customize, and troubleshoot control systems and integrate third-party devices (e.g., using Ethernet IP, Profibus). Coordinate cross-functional teams to address project-specific challenges and provide technical expertise during root cause analysis and process optimization. Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory requirements, creating and updating documentation to maintain audit-readiness. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, sharing best practices for system configuration, code development, and documentation. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field. Experience:
5+ years in automation engineering within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical sector, with hands-on expertise in DeltaV systems. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with Emerson DeltaV DCS (or Siemens DCS, Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Honeywell DCS, ABB), including batch configuration, HMI development, and system integration. Familiarity with SCADA and MES systems, and experience with third-party device integration. Basic scripting/programming skills (Python, Java) are a plus, along with knowledge of SQL and networking fundamentals. Certifications:
Preferred certifications include Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM). Additional Competencies: Ability to manage complex projects and adapt in high-pressure environments. Strong communication and documentation skills to facilitate cross-team collaborations.
