This is an Accounting Technician I position located in the Payment Audit Unit of the Accounts Payable Section.
This position approves the invoices related to P-card invoices. This includes auditing scanned backup documentation to ensure the correct information is attached and entered correctly in the NCDOT accounting system. This includes assisting users with questions and problems processing the documents. The position communicates regularly with field personnel to ensure that invoices meet DOT policies/procedures.
Other duties include mailing and batching checks once monthly and assisting with the distribution of statements. This position is a backup to the other team members in the Payment Audit Unit and completes special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
Experience with SAP software or other accounting system experience. Experience of accounting methods, procedures and accounting practices, specifically auditing experience in Accounts Payable. Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel Knowledge of governmental accounting methods, procedures, and financial practices. Experience understanding, interpreting, and applying the laws pertaining to financial records.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
