MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree, major in speech-language pathology Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with SB (Speech and Language Impairment) Endorsement or ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology Experience with developmentally disabled students desirable Knowledge/experience with alternative communication systems, related techniques and equipment Knowledge of Michigan and Federal Special Education laws Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) and online sourcing tools with functional knowledge of internet search platforms Ability to withstand the strain of teaching Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct service to special education and low incidence handicapped population Assesses communication skills using appropriate standardized tests in formal and informal settings Provides consultative service to instructional staff Interprets impressions and makes recommendations to parents Plans and helps implement individual student communication system/systems Participates as a member of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and IEP team Provides in-service programs for parents, staff, and community agencies as needed Demonstrates an awareness of behavioral management techniques Demonstrates a knowledge of developmentally disabled, physically handicapped Maintain regular and punctual attendance Completes diagnostic, placement and service procedures according to federal, state, county and local rules and regulations Such alternatives to the above responsibilities as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
