ABOUT THE POSITION
As part of the Procurement Team, this role will specifically support the Aftermarket Parts Sales Team and will be responsible for negotiating, quoting, and purchasing parts essential for asphalt and industrial heating equipment. The Parts Buyer will contribute to optimizing the supply chain, ensuring high-quality parts availability, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Primary responsibilities include providing customer service to internal customers and external vendors by placing purchase orders, maintaining past due reports, following up on orders to ensure materials are delivered on promised dates, receiving bids, and making purchases of commodities or goods where the financial impact or decision making is limited.
Key Deliverables: Identify and evaluate suppliers for aftermarket parts. Place orders and track shipments to ensure timely delivery. Monitor inventory levels to forecast demand and minimize stockouts. Execute new item creation and conduct invoice reconciliation. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability. Work closely with the Aftermarket Parts Sales Team to understand parts requirements and customer needs. Key Activities & Responsibilities: Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve favorable contracts. Prepare and manage Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to secure competitive pricing. Collaborate with the Warehouse Team to maintain accurate inventory records. Conduct performance evaluations of suppliers and address any issues that arise. Stay informed about market trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging suppliers. Analyze competitor offerings to identify opportunities for improvement. Provide support in resolving any supply chain issues that may affect sales and customer satisfaction. Process purchase requisitions or orders within purchasing authority. Responsible for procurement/purchasing activities on assigned categories and vendors. Project a positive company image by professionally interacting with fellow employees, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive, and courteous manner. All other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from two-year college or similar degree from technical school; Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred. Proven experience in Purchasing or Procurement, preferably in the aftermarket parts sector. Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Oracle and/or Microsoft Dynamics AX experience preferred Basic understanding of supply chain management in a manufacturing environment Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop effective supplier partnerships Excellent analytical skills, detail oriented, flexible, and able to adapt to pressures, deadlines, and rapidly changing situations Skill in working efficiently and accurately to keep up with production requirements Strong communication and interpersonal skills Maintain positive, constructive, cooperative working relationships by working, acting, and communicating with various personalities, getting along with customers, vendors, coworkers, management, working both individually and as part of a team. Continue to grow and use tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement, experience, and knowledge.
