JOB TITLE : Manager of Asset Accounting
SALARY RANGE : $92,700 - $104,300
HAY POINTS : 588
DEPT/DIV : Controller/AR and Project Accounting
SUPERVISOR : Deputy Director Accounts Receivable and Project Accounting
LOCATION : 420 Lexington Avenue
HOURS OF WORK : 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (8 hours/day)
DEADLINE : Open until filled
This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.
SUMMARY :
To manage the financial accounting and reporting for Capital Assets, Leases, and Inventory processes in support of all MTA agencies. Records, analyzes, and monitors financial transactions related to fixed assets, leases, and inventory.
RESPONSIBILITIES : Ensure Fixed Assets are capitalized and depreciated in accordance with GAAP, GASB and agencies' policy. Coordinate with agencies on their fixed asset, lease and inventory accounting practices and systems and document the various processes. Provide information as needed for internal and external audits. Analyze, monitor, and record reserves, impairments and disposals in accordance with Company Policy. Provides accounting support for inventory and lease transactions as required. Prepare required footnotes, supporting schedules and account analysis required for financial reporting. Compile and analyze information related to physical inventories as required by the FTA. Prepare and support Administrative Asset billings to the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CDOT). Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of General Ledger systems and GAAP Knowledge of Project Costing, Asset Management, and Inventory systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work with all internal levels within a given organization. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible. Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited college may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum 5 years related experience. Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership abilities. Preferred:
At least 3 years in a managerial and/or leadership role. Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body. Knowledge of PeopleSoft systems Familiarity with the MTA's policies and procedures.
