Job Title Financial Analyst

Summary

The role of this position is to support the development and implementation of the Annual Budgeting process, provide insight and analysis for financial forecasts and develop analytical support for various projects. The position will provide support to budget managers across the University in developing and monitoring salary, operating expense and capital budgets. The Financial Analyst reports directly to the Assistant Vice President, Budget and Financial Analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities Support the development and execution of the University's Annual Budget Create and maintain financial models to develop budgets and forecasts for various revenue and expense areas Analyze and track spending in a number of key areas Provide analyses, feedback and recommendations to University leadership Coordinate and link strategic planning initiatives with budgeting Identify funding sources for projects, including capital and non-capital expenditures Develop budgets for new academic and administrative programs Monitor spending across the University and identify anomalies Coordinate loading detailed department budgets into Banner, the University's ERP system Provide training to individuals across the University about accessing budget reports and transaction data Assist in the development and implementation of reporting for budget managers Provide financial data for academic and non-academic program reviews Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or Business Minimum of 3 years of professional working experience Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills Well-developed verbal and written communication skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Ability to deal with people in an effective and tactful manner Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion, especially with regard to sensitive or confidential matters Ability to prioritize work under the pressure of competing projects or tasks Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll's mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world Preferred Qualifications

Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Higher-education finance experience Experience in planning, forecasting, and analysis Experience with using Banner ERP system

Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions

This position works in person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. University core business hours are generally 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. However, occasionally this position will require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations.

Physical Requirements

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting salary will be $56,000 - $65,000, commensurate with qualifications.
