Job summary

  • The Distribution Supervisor will provide daily direction to the distribution driver team.  Direct supervision of drivers to effectively launch their routes as quickly as possible, handle equipment reassignments as needed, and ensure drivers complete their day in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner, and are off the clock as soon as possible. 

 

Summary of essential job functions

  • Efficiently supervise Medosweet’s distribution driver team.
    • Ensures route and special delivery coverage.   Provide overtime / sick / open route relief as needed.
    • Verify routes are completed as planned and that times of breaking route sequence are communicated to department manager with reasons.
    • Ensures load discrepancies are brought to the attention of the Operations Manager for resolution.
    • Ensure drivers are accurately delivering and verifying quantities and product delivered to customers.
    • Ensures driver / customer issues are communicated to the department manager in a timely manner.
    • Runs transportation management systems (Routing) when required
    • Provides coverage for Distribution Manager


  • Ensure Medosweet’s distribution drivers operate in a safe manner.
    • Offer suggestions for safety improvement. 
    • Utilize safety committee information to ensure departmental compliance.
    • Alert department manager of safety violations or significant concerns immediately.
    • Ensure drivers are doing pre and post trips and turning in their DVIR’s to mechanic.
    •  
  • Participate in driver training and re-training and make recommendations for improvement:
    • Ensure that drivers are trained with an emphasis on customer satisfaction, safe driving, truck security, product handling and put away, and route efficiency.   
    • Provide positive support for team personnel.
    • Provide input on proper staffing levels for holiday, vacation, and attrition coverage.
    • Provide annual merit review input for all drivers.   

 

  • Foster good relations with other departments:
    • Provide Class A delivery help to Warehouse.
    • Respond promptly and positively to all customer service issues.
    • Fully communicate issues / resolutions with department manager.

 

Minimum requirements

  • Ideal candidates will have supervisory experience in a distribution position in the food or beverage industry, preferably one that services customers through direct sales and/or direct store delivery distribution    
  • Must be knowledgeable of DOT regulations and other applicable Federal and State laws    
  • Ability to plan, assign, and direct work. Must possess strong leadership, communication and organizational skills    
  • Should be computer literate, with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following systems…ERP, TMS, WMS, and CRM.
  • Associate’s Degree preferred

  2. Minimum age of 21.
  3. Stable work history.
  4. No DUI or reckless driving convictions, no positive controlled substance tests or felony convictions.
