JOB AD: Health Educator: Physical Therapy Assistant
Introduction: Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Physical Therapy Assistants to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Military Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of the Naval Hospital Bremerton, WA. Location: United States, Bremerton, WA
Minimum Qualifications:
Carry out a program of corrective exercise and treatment for assigned patients, as directed by the physical therapist. Under supervision, administer such treatment as exercise, gait training, massage, whirlpool, hot packs, diathermy, ultrasound, paraffin, ice packs and traction. Instruct patients on segments of the program including proper use of wheelchairs, crutches, braces, and prosthetic appliances and devices. Administer traction to relieve neck and back pain, using intermittent and static traction equipment. Instruct, motivate, and assist patients to learn and improve functional activities. Observe patients during treatments and compile and evaluate data on patients' responses to treatments and progress and report orally or in writing to the physical therapist. Fit patients for, adjust, and train patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs. Confer with members of the physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs. Coordinate with other departments and the clinic staff to provide complete care to patients.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Associate degree / Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapy assistant or possess current certification as a physical therapy assistant/technician as determined by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
- Experience: One year of specialized experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant after graduation.

- Hours of Performance: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday. Hours are subject to change and may include nights and weekends

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk, stand, and bend for 6-8 hours per day
- Able to distinguish between basic colors
- Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers in stressful situations
- Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and undergo urine drug testing
- Advanced medical and anatomical skills
- Knowledge of general surgery practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong motor skills and manual dexterity
- Ability to work long and irregular hours
- Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and focused on stressful situations
