Job Description AbbVie Immunology is expanding its Immunology Discovery team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We at Immunology Discovery are focused on identifying targets for the treatment of autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseasesusing an interdisciplinary approach where we use high-throughput single cell biology experiments and cutting-edge computational approaches to study human disease derived samples and datasets. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist with an MD-PhD background to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will possess expertise in genomics, epigenomics, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), and functional experiments, alongside strong proficiency in bioinformatics, particularly in the analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and single-cell ATAC sequencing (scATAC-seq). This position requires an MD background as it involves clinical metadata curation and integration. This role is pivotal to generate and interpret large disease specific single cell datasets that will be used to predicting disease relevant targets. The person will work in a multi-disciplinary team designing functional experiments and generating and analyzing multi-omics datasets including Cut-and-Tag based epigenetic profiling, to derive insights into immunological diseases, identify novel therapeutic targets specific to patient cohorts and AbbVie pipeline drugs. In addition, the candidate will contribute to presentations at scientific conferences and publications of translational findings in internal and external peer reviewed journals. If you are passionate about translating complex biological data into actionable insights and contributing to the advancement of medicine, we encourage you to apply. This position will be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and requires strong clinical, immunological, and bioinformatic background, passion, attention todetail, prior hands-on experience, and teamwork. Key Responsibilities : Lead research projects focused on epigenomic and transcriptomic profiling using cutting-edge NGS technologies. Design and execute functional experiments to investigate cellular processes and mechanisms related to autoimmune diseases. Conduct bioinformatic analysis of single-cell RNA-seq and single-cell ATAC-seq data to identify and validate disease-specific targets. Curate and interpret clinical metadata to integrate with molecular and cellular datasets and enhance research outcomes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to derive insights into immunological diseases and identify novel therapeutic targets specific to patient cohorts. Contribute to presentations at scientific conferences and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals. Qualifications Qualifications : MD-PhD degree in Physiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with typically 4 years of experience. Proven experience in designing, optimizing and executing multi-omics characterization of functional experiments. Strong background in molecular biology techniques like flow cytometry, western blot, IHC, etc. Proficiency in bioinformatic pipelines for analyzing biological datasets, particularly single-cell RNA-seq and single-cell ATAC-seq. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset enabling effective teamwork across interdisciplinary environments. Strong publication record demonstrating expertise in target ID using functional experiments and analysis of genomic and epigenomic datasets. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across interdisciplinary teams. Preferred Qualifications : Experience working with animal models for disease. Familiarity designing, executing and analyzing CRISPR perturbation experiments. Experience in building and optimizing computational pipelines for large-scale single-cell RNA-seq analysis.
