Job Summary
The Manager, Inventory and Supply Planning Optimization within the Bobs Discount Furniture's supply planning organization will be primarily responsible for managing all quantitative and analytical projects related to optimizing the inventory levels and the flow of goods across the supply chain to deliver best in class service levels to Bob's customer. The position is also expected to partner with all cross functional partners (logistics, DC, merchants etc) to implement Inventory and supply planning strategy. This position will also manage the development of supply planning processes in partnership with IT to drive efficient and optimized end to end flow of products across the omni supply chain from supplier to distribution center to customers.
Responsibilities
Develops and manages advanced safety stock models to drive the right target inventory across assortments with different demand characteristics to improve overall customer in stock, Inventory turns etc.
Accountable for inventory optimization to consistently achieve service level goals while minimizing inventory investment across the supply chain.
Partners with Merchandising, Supply Chain and Finance to align inventory system controls (minimum order quantities, min/max, safety stock, velocity rankings) with business objectives. Ensures analysis and communication of impact of proposed changes.
Oversees the execution of key inventory control parameters that drive the supply planning and replenishment system.
Manages the supply planning analytics team, with the charter of creating, implementing, and enforcing Bob's inventory management strategy, focused on ensuring availability of supply to meet customer demand and minimizing excess.
Develop analytical models to systemically identify root cause for out of stock across categories and partners with the supply planning and cross functional team to drive improvements in overall in-stock levels.
Develop Inventory scorecard at different hierarchies (category, DC, Channel etc.) that not only tracks key KPI's (Inventory Turns, In Stock etc.) related to Inventory but also drives actionable reporting to improve the KPI's.
Works closely with the supply planning functional team in ensuring inventory strategy is aligned to supply strategy with primary focus on ensuring availability of supply and ensuring Inventory goals and Bob's customer demand are met.
Manages and leads analytical team to develop key performance metrics as it relates to supply planning including supplier on time performance, accuracy of PO receipts, short- and long-range flow projections etc. Engages as needed with key supply partners (suppliers, inbound logistics, DC operators) to map and develop processes to meet business needs.
Leads the development of new analytical approaches by evaluating industry trends and proposes solutions.
Required Qualifications Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent mathematical reasoning -- The ability to understand and analyze sales numbers and inventory management principles
Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to use critical thinking -- Using logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches
Demonstrated skill in advanced data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data
Minimum 2-3 years successful experience as an Inventory and/or Supply Chain Analytics Manager
Bachelor's degree in Inventory Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline
High proficiency level in MS Excel and Power BI (or similar reporting tools) , and comfortable with synthesizing large datasets for defining purposeful messaging and insights.
Advanced level of knowledge and understanding of relational database skills (Access, SQL Server, etc.) and experience writing Complex SQL queries to pull large sets of data, performing analysis using SQL queries
Very proficient in using programming languages like R, Python to build and develop analytical models/processes.
Must be well versed with supply chain processes, Inventory strategy including safety stock models and stocking /replenishment policies.
Excellent communication and listening skills
2+ years of leadership experience, including people management and development, partner interaction and process management
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Inventory Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline
Proficient in using Optimization language like CPLEX, Gurobi etc
Physical Requirements Ability to sit for longer periods of time in an office setting. Expected Base Pay Not Including Potential Commissions, Incentive, Bonus, etc. Opportunities: $100,000 - $140,000
