for a contracted position at the Baltimore City Health Department Sexual Health Clinics. We seek a Physician Assistant with experience in STI, HIV, HIV PrEP/PEP, and Hepatitis C clinical care and an interest in supporting programmatic STI, HIV, HIV PrEP/PEP, and Hepatitis C services. The practitioner will have dedicated part-time administrative time for Deputy Medical Director activities. The Deputy Medical Director will have 40% FTE (2 days a week) of administrative time, and the remainder 60% FTE (3 days a week) to provide direct patient care. The Deputy Medical Director will report to the Medical Director for STI, HIV, HIV PrEP/PEP, and Hepatitis C services who reports to the Clinical Chief for STI Services. Will provide support in clinician staffing scheduling, patient triage, facilitate clinical inquiries made to the Sexual Health Clinics from external agencies, develop and refine standard operating procedures, and coordinate projects/new workflows with supervisors and staff of all professional groups at the BCHD Sexual Health Clinics. The Deputy Medical Director will work independently under the supervision of the Medical Director for STI services, or the Clinical Chief in the Medical Director’s absence. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Administrative Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for completing timesheets of provider (NP/PA) staff biweekly or as required. Coordination of requests for time off with the Clinic Manager. Point person for issues related to EMR modifications and improvement, as it pertains to clinician workflow. Attend on average 1 meeting per week on EPIC implementation and improvement, complete reports as requested as it pertains to EPIC implementation. Work with the Clinic Manager to help manage STI clinician schedule updates for callouts and rearrangements of shifts. Work with the front desk supervisor and Clinic Manager to ensure all patients are rescheduled/redirected during operation changes. Assist the Assistant Commissioner or their designee in assigning student rotations to STI clinician preceptors. Develop and update sexual health clinic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to clinician workflows. Lead quality assurance activities including matching external laboratory results to existing patient encounters. Support clinicians in the use of commercial laboratory test ordering online portal. Serve as the point person for RN/MA Express Testing visits. Serve as a point person to support clinicians in troubleshooting Baltimore City IT updates affecting clinician workflows. Serve as a point person for clinician supply and medication stocking in the clinic. Serve as a point person for clinical inquiries made to the Sexual Health Clinics from external agencies. Present information to the clinician team and the sexual health clinic staff to keep these groups informed. Clinical Duties and Responsibilities Perform clinic-based evaluation of patients, including taking detailed sexual history. Perform focused physical examinations including male and female genitourinary examination. Collect patient specimens for various testing. Order relevant lab testing for STI evaluation. Counsel patients regarding diagnosis and treatment. Administer appropriate treatment for sexually transmitted infections. Refer patients as indicated to primary care and other community services. Participate in quality improvement initiatives of clinic operations. Assist in precepting a variety of learners including medical students and other health care professionals. Participate in research activities authorized by BCHD. Provide Emergency Services to the Baltimore City Health Department as needed. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks. Oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of STIs, treatments, and resources. Sensitivity in providing care to diverse populations. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree. Certification by the NCCPA or similar national certifying body. Must be licensed as PA in the State of Maryland. Three years experience in a related clinical area. Residency or fellowship program in an area of specialization may substitute for some experience. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of five years of related experience. Supervisory experience. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications.
