Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team is essential, as are strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to efficiently manage project timelines in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Serve as a technical expert on Linac & microwave projects and as a resource to other related projects at Varian. Collaborate and provide expertise to Manufacturing group. Linac & Microwave system design work. Provide advisory support to Physics and systems engineering team. Work with other scientists and engineers to review and solve difficult technical issues. Coordinate resources needed to complete a task or project. Improve documentation, baseline data and operating and maintenance procedures. Provide scope, cost and schedule estimates for research and engineering projects. Job Requirements MS/Ph.D. in Microwave Engineering or similar field. 15+ years of direct experience in the design, construction, implementation and maintenance of Linacs and high power microwave systems. Linear accelerator manufacturing experience. Highly motivated team player who can also work independently. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to interact effectively with experts in multiple disciplines. Fighting cancer calls for big ideas. We envision a world without fear of cancer. TogetherWeFight The base pay range for this position is Min $144,300 - Max $259,900. The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
