Join our Global Clinical development Team as Global Head of Translational Medicine and you’ll serve as the Department’s Research & Development Physician interfacing directly with Clinical Franchise Program Leaders and Heads, R & D segment heads as well as Sanofi Translational Medicine Unit leaders, Translational Medicine Leaders across the breadth of the R&D Infectious Diseases portfolio throughout the Company. You will provide essential, knowledge & experienced-based translational, medical and scientific guidance to accomplish early and late product development to help fulfill the R&D mission of developing innovative and important infectious disease products, both preventative and therapeutic. Main responsibilities: You will help in the design & oversee the development & execution of the clinical translational components across the R&D portfolio. You will be accountable for the design and execution of translational studies in humans (e.g., first-in-human studies, interventional and non-interventional studies, biomarker studies) across the Vaccines R&D portfolio. You will be responsible for ensuring that the activities of the Translational Science Hub are part of the overall Translational Medicine strategy for Vaccines R&D. You will ensure the development and execution of translational strategies from preclinical through proof-of-concept studies to early clinical development for candidate vaccines by ensuring robust strategy and methodologies for the appropriate candidate vaccines. You will coordinate and manage physician scientists & translational scientists within the Global Clinical Department, and will serve cross-functionally in a leadership capacity by interacting directly with Segment Heads and other leaders of key functions to ensure that key product attributes are consistently accounted for as they pertain to translational and clinical development and overall project risk management. You will coordinate with Global Antigen Design and Global Immunology groups, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, and Global Medical Affairs. You will serve as a primary contact with the FDA and other regulatory agencies as required, the medical community as well as potential funding agencies in regard to medical/clinical and scientific issues. Additionally, you will interact at all levels of potential product development to provide input on matters regarding pre-clinical & early-stage development of new vaccines, including the Discovery and External Licensing functions. You will play an important ambassadorial role and will develop networks in order to forge key working relationships internally and externally. You will, at a high scientific strategic level, represent the Company within the scientific and medical research community through involvement in international scientific meetings and through professional publications. About you Education/experience: M.D. or Ph.D. in related field or equivalent experience; Minimum of 5 years in leadership role with relevant industry/academic experience; Demonstrated leadership skills in a Clinical Development setting preferably in the area of vaccinology/immunology/infectious diseases; Demonstrated leadership skills in building and leading teams in a global/multicultural environment; Demonstrated ability to influence and lead multiple clinical teams globally for clinical research; Strong strategic planning and managerial skills; Proven excellent communication skills through publications and presentations; Demonstrated ability to perform well (as measured by ensuring "quality deliverables" prioritizing and efficiently managing multiple tasks frequently challenged with short timelines across multiple clinical projects); Demonstrated ability of internal and external stakeholder management through establishment of collaborations or securing internal or external funding; Proven ability to work cross-culturally is essential.
