Structure The Senior Director of Principal Giving is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) with assignment to the Lindner College of Business (LCOB) and reports to the Executive Director of Development, LCOB. Focus The Senior Director of Principal Giving serves the Lindner College of Business and is responsible for the identification, qualification, strategic engagement, solicitation and personalized stewardship of prospects and donors of at the principal gift level ($1M+). Specific Duties Build, qualify and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects to cultivate, solicit and secure principal gifts ($1M+) to support the priorities and needs of the Lindner College of Business. Draft gift proposals and agreements, process and track those documents through the UCF system. Collaborate with principal giving peers across the organization to allow for a comprehensive program for principal gift development and activity for the UC Foundation. Provide leadership and mentoring to development staff and academic leadership in the process of identification, qualification, strategic engagement and solicitation of prospects and donors at principal gift level. Partner with the stewardship team to ensure personalized stewardship plans for donors. Work with UCF fundraising specialists (prospect development, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, and national programs) for the benefit of the College and the University. Maintain excellent working relationships with the College’s faculty and staff, and external relations personnel. Prepare timely contact reports and ensure the accuracy of monthly reports. Participate fully in the UCF prospect and clearance process. Other duties, as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree with 7-10 years of progressive fundraising experience, or advanced degree with 5-7 years of experience. Previous experience working at an institution of higher education preferred. Record of success in raising funds upwards of $1 million through outright and deferred giving; proven ability to manage prospects, generate high-level strategies for cultivation and solicitation of prospects, supervise volunteers, and establish goals. Knowledge of principal giving best practices and a familiarity with tax, legal, and financial concepts and strategies involved in estate and philanthropic planning. High degree of discretion and confidentiality. Strong organization and written communication skills. Ability to interact favorably with a diverse group of individuals and to foster strong, productive relationships. Ability to collaborate across Foundation, University and University healthcare system to optimize philanthropic giving for principal gift donors. Willingness to travel and attend evening and weekend activities as needed. Valid driver’s license required for travel. What We Offer The anticipated starting salary range for the Senior Director of Principal Giving role is $120,000-$135,000 annually. When determining the final offer amount the UC Foundation considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
