Director of Dietary Services
is responsible for hands-on management of all dietary services activities, including menu planning, ordering supplies, dietary consults, hiring, training, and retaining staff who prepare and serve meals to patients and employees. The individual must be a motivational leader dedicated to staff development and employee engagement. Responsibilities Overseeing safe and timely meal preparation, including the provision of meals and/or supplements in accordance with patients' needs, preferences, and care plan Monitoring regular and therapeutic diets, including texture of foods and liquids to meet the specialized needs of patients Create dietary menus that deliver high quality and nutritious meals for patients at all levels of care Work with food service staff to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment Responsible for the operational excellence of the department to ensure the delivery of quality services to patients, staff and visitors in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards and applicable regulatory requirements Reviews and analyzes department quality and productivity measures, adjusting the use of available resources as necessary Ensure safe receiving, storage, preparation, and service of food. Protect food in all phases of preparation, holding, service, cooking, and transportation Understands and adopts changes in applicable regulatory and accrediting regulations Provide regular updates to the Quality Management Committee regarding quality of services and any changes in the department Maintain an effective quality assurance/improvement program and department productivity measurements, and reports status monthly to immediate supervisor Interacts regularly with department managers, program managers, staff, support staff, vendors and outside regulatory agencies. Qualifications
Requirements Associates Degree and/or specialized training in Food Service Management; Bachelor's degree preferred 5 years' experience in food or culinary services in health care required 3 years' supervisory/management experience required Knowledge/Experience with The Joint Commission and state licensing requirements Experience with creating, monitoring and managing budgets and scheduling Food Safety Manager Certification Examination
