Position Specific Description Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Senior Director - Regulatory Affairs will lead NextEra’s regulatory strategy and engagement across the Western region, with a primary focus on the CPUC, CAISO, and Western transmission markets. This role ensures that market design and regulatory decisions align with and support NextEra’s leadership in delivering generation and transmission solutions that advance a carbon-free future. Key Responsibilities: • Drive engagement in Western ISO/RTO development efforts, collaborating with industry partners, trade groups, and other stakeholders. • Leverage existing relationships and decision-making expertise to influence outcomes and contribute to the company’s success in shaping market rules and transmission policies. • Provide strategic direction and oversight to consultants and internal teams in analyzing current and proposed market rules and regulations. • Serve as the primary liaison for wholesale market initiatives, coordinating with internal teams to ensure alignment with NextEra’s objectives. Preferred Experience: • Extensive knowledge of Western transmission markets, including CAISO operations, ISO/RTO development, and wholesale market design. • Strong experience engaging with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), including familiarity with regulatory processes and decision-making frameworks. • Background in regulatory processes, law, policy, or direct work with market operators. • Proven ability to work collaboratively in team environments to address and resolve complex challenges. Location/Travel: • This role involves significant travel within the Western region, ranging from 50% to 75%. • Candidates must be located in California, preferably Folsom or San Francisco to support relationship-building and regional priorities effectively.
