Enter sample data into the eLIMS system accurately and promptly. Perform laboratory testing on incoming samples efficiently to meet or exceed sample turnaround time goals. Maintain a clean, sanitized, and tidy work area.
Responsibilities- Homogenize and aseptically split samples into bags.
- Enrich samples with media.
- Incubate samples using the LIMS system.
- Check samples into retain using storage management.
- Identify non-conformances and out-of-specification samples.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in biology, microbiology, and laboratory practices.
- Experience with aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Knowledge of media preparation and plating.
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance.
- AAS or BA degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced lab environment.
- Positive personality and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Three seasonal openings with varying schedules: Monday - Friday (10 AM - 2 PM start time), Wednesday - Sunday (10 AM - 2 PM start time), and Tuesday - Friday (1 - 9 PM) with Saturday (9 AM - 5:30 PM). Total pay ranges from $17.94/hr to $19.69/hr, depending on the shift and differential. This is a four-month contract with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time position. The Microbiology Business Unit focuses on testing pet food, ingredients, nutraceuticals, and food dyes. The work environment can be repetitive and time-sensitive, requiring flexibility with potential overtime of 45-50 hours per week. Lab appropriate wear includes long pants and closed-toe shoes. A lab coat and safety glasses will be provided. Candidates need to be comfortable standing all day and performing tasks that require significant hand use.
