Requirements:

Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician license or able to participate and successfully complete Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
Basic Life Support/CPR training according to requirements of license and/or certification.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Previous experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

Responsibilities:

Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist or dispensing prescriber. Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control. Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of practice following departmental procedures and policies as outlined in the department operations manually.
Complete training to gain basic knowledge of pharmacy operations, drug therapies, calculations, and preparation of medications for patient consumption.
Keep and maintain accurate patient records.
Prepare prescriptions in accordance with pharmacy law and standards of pharmacy practice.
Attend and participate in pharmacy technician meetings to exchange ideas in order to achieve goals of the department. Keep procedures up to date in pharmacy technician manual in order to train new personnel and have quick reference to specific jobs so they are performed according to the policies of the department.
Check and remove outdated medications on a routine basis to ensure that no deteriorated or expired medications are in stock.
Continue to educate by completing required continuing education and keeping up with policy changes.
Understand and adhere to Agency’s compliance standards as they appear in Agency’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Agency regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Pharmacy Technician Apprentice program available. The apprentice position is enrolled in a training program to become a licensed Pharmacy Technician and will follow the guidelines and requirements of the training program which include passing score on national certification exam, and application for full state licensure are required within 12 months of hire.
