Qualifications:In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
The neuropsychologist will provide neuropsychological assessment and intervention services to individuals 18 and older in inpatient, acute rehabilitation and outpatient settings. The neuropsychologist will assist in the development of the programs providing services to individuals with traumatic brain injuries, stroke and other neurological disabilities, disorders or diseases. The neuropsychologist will: Provide neuropsychological evaluation and recommendations to and for individuals with the brain injuries. Provide inpatient evaluation and consultation services may include acute rehabilitation and other patient care areas in the hospital providing services to neurologically impaired individuals. Conduct neuropsychological evaluations such as assessments of intelligence, academic ability, attention, concentration, sensory-motor function, language, learning, and memory. Distinguish between psychogenic and neurogenic syndromes, two or more suspected etiologies of cerebral dysfunction, or between disorders involving complex seizures. Design rehabilitation plans for patients with cognitive dysfunction. Diagnose and treat neural and psychological conditions in medical and surgical populations such as patients with early dementing illness or chronic pain with a neurological basis. Establish neurobehavioral baseline measures for monitoring progressive cerebral disease or recovery. Compare patients' progress before and after pharmacologic, surgical, or behavioral interventions. Provide outpatient neuropsychological evaluation and intervention services to individuals referred by Neurosciences disciplines, including neurology Diagnose and treat conditions involving injury to the central nervous system such as cerebrovascular accidents, neoplasms, infectious or inflammatory diseases, degenerative diseases, head traumas, demyelinating diseases and various forms of dementing illnesses. Assist in the development of multidisciplinary outpatient programs providing services to individuals with: a. Concussion, b. Normal pressure hydrocephalus, c. Spinal disorders. |
Education Requirements: Doctorate Degree - Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), and have completed an APA accredited predoctoral internship with experience in neuropsychology, and have completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in adult clinical neuropsychology that conforms to theConference guidelines.
Candidates should have experience with TBI in acute inpatient and rehabilitation settings, and preferably in Level One Trauma Center.
