Overview and Purpose:The Plant Controller oversees accounting and financial activities for an assigned manufacturing plant, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budget management, and cost control. This role is key to providing financial leadership and support to plant management, facilitating sound business decisions and strategic planning. Responsibilities include leading plant accounting functions such as month-end closing, variance analysis, and financial forecasting. The Plant Controller is a key member of the local plant leadership team.
Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Plant Controller position:Financial Reporting and Performance Analysis:
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant.
Perform variance analysis to identify key cost drivers and performance metrics.
Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and long-range planning.
Cost Management and Analysis:
Manage standard cost setting, inventory valuation, and cost analysis.
Analyze manufacturing costs and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
Monitor overhead costs and manufacturing efficiency metrics.
Budget Development and Financial Planning:
Develop and maintain plant budgets in collaboration with plant management.
Conduct ongoing financial forecasting and variance analysis.
Support the annual budget preparation and capital planning process.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to corporate policies, procedures, and local compliance requirements.
Maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Implement and monitor plant-specific financial controls and procedures.
Team Leadership and Development:
Supervise and mentor finance staff at the plant.
Partner with plant management, providing financial guidance and insights.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and financial discipline.
Operational and Plant Performance Support:
Provide financial insights for plant operational performance reviews.
Support capital investment analysis and financial justification for new projects.
Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and support cost-saving projects.
Competencies Required:
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar financial systems is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
5-7 years of progressive experience in plant or manufacturing accounting.
Prior experience as a Plant Controller or similar role preferred.
Expertise in cost accounting and variance analysis.
Supervisory Duties:This position supervises on-site accounting team.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position with flexible hours, mostly Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on job demands.
Travel:Light travel is expected, possibly for training or auditing purposes (e.g., visits to other plants or corporate offices).Compensation: 110,000-140,000 plus generous bonus potential.
