SUMMARY : Seeking pediatric SLP feeding specialist with minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric acute care, NICU, and/or outpatient feeding for PRN position.
Pediatric modified barium swallow study competency a plus.
Team currently provides feeding and developmental services in outpatient clinic, as well as NICU, PICU, Pediatrics, and well baby units. Examines, tests, diagnoses, and administers remedial treatments for patients with speech, language and hearing disorders. Evaluates patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders.
Documents test results and recommends remedial treatment. Performs evaluations with special attention to receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation and auditory skills. Confers with associates and institutes treatment utilizing corrective exercises and special equipment. Maintains active
communication with the patient, patient’s family and colleagues regarding progress. PRIMARY DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of patient’s impairment and prognosis for improvement. Analyzes testing and other pertinent information to create an individual treatment plan. Prepares
electronic documentation as required by the profession and department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports. Consults with physicians and other medical health personnel on patient’s progress; maintain appropriate records. Provides instruction in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient or family/caregiver. Conducts or participates in training medical and other personnel in therapy techniques and objectives; develops, conducts and participates in formal in-service programs in area of expertise. Attends patient care staffing, conferences and other related meetings. Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards. Performs related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Master's degree. EXPERIENCE:
None.
Adult Outpatient Therapy: One (1) year of outpatient experience preferred.
Will consider exceptional new graduate with extensive outpatient student fieldwork. LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION :
Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.
State Speech Pathologist Licensure issued by the Arizona Department of Health Services.
National Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
Some departments may require a valid fingerprint clearance card. Clinical Fellows:
Must obtain State Speech Pathologist Licensure issued by the Arizona Department of Health Services upon hire. After the first year, must obtain National Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
