Job Summary

The oral and maxillofacial physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases, defects, and injuries occurring in the soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region - face, head, jaws, and neck.

Essential Functions:

Performs biopsies to determine whether tumors or growths are cancerous. (0%) Administers local, regional, or general anesthetics to patients before surgeries. (0%) Surgically removes tumors and abnormal growths of the oral and maxillofacial areas. (0%) Adjusts patients' jaws to provide increased functionality, comfort, and symmetry. (0%) Removes impacted wisdom teeth and buried dental roots. (0%) Performs reconstructive surgery to treat congenital defects, structural abnormalities, and injuries. (0%) Prepares patients' mouths for dental implants. (0%) Collaborates with various healthcare specialists to create suitable treatment plans for patients. MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment. Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care. Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications. Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills. Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems. Performs in a tactful and professional manner. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Computer skills required. Computer skills preferred.
