STARTING RATE: $31.00

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An RN Unit Manager provides leadership, guidance, supervision, and evaluation of nursing staff. Provide information to the Director of Nursing regarding the performance of nursing staff and participate in the evaluation process of nursing staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Visit each resident on the unit, assess needs, and assign nursing staff to care for residents during shifts or tours of duty.

· Receive physician’s orders in resident care. Make rounds with physicians and record the rounds in residents’ charts.

· Distribute medications and chart distribution of medications in residents’ charts according to established standards and regulations.

· Participate with the interdisciplinary team in the developing and updating Resident Assessment and Comprehensive Care Plan as the resident’s conditions change to include attendance at treatment team meetings as requested.

· Assist with charting all clinical and nursing care provided to residents. Ensure charting is accurate, done promptly, and meets established standards and regulations.

· Administer medications and treatment as needed. Chart the administrations of such injections.

· Provide consultation, information, and support to residents and their families.

· Ensure information is transferred regarding resident care and condition as related to nursing services in shift changes, i.e., shift beginning and end

· Participate in servicing, staff development programs, and staff meetings.

· Provide emergency care as appropriate, under physician orders and advance directives.

· Overall management and implementation of the resident care plan, documentation in the care plan of resident’s progress and change in condition.

· Provide care per Federal, State, and Local Regulations.

· Perform other duties as assigned and needed to ensure the quality of comprehensive nursing care and other general care to residents.

REQUIREMENTS:

· New York State Registered Professional Nurse licensure

· Experience in long-term care facility preferred

· Able to interpret patient information and make critical decisions about necessary actions

· Ability to supervise and work well with and show respect toward other healthcare personnel (i.e., CNAs, LPNs, physicians, etc.), residents, and their family members

· Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions

Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness

· Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
