Job Summary

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, tracking stock movement, and ensuring efficient inventory management processes. This role will work closely with the warehouse, procurement, and operations teams to track and report on stock levels, resolve discrepancies, and support overall supply chain efficiency. Must have working knowledge in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities: Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock counts are updated regularly. Perform cycle counts and physical inventory audits to verify inventory accuracy. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical and system inventory counts.

Stock Control:

Ensure that all inventory movements (receiving, transfers, and shipments) are properly documented within the ERP system. Identify slow-moving or obsolete stock and recommend adjustments to stock levels as needed.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

Analyze inventory data to identify trends, usage patterns, and areas for improvement. Prepare regular reports on inventory status, stock discrepancies, and key performance metrics. Work with purchasing teams to improve inventory accuracy and optimize order quantities.

Process Improvement:

Assist in the development and implementation of inventory control procedures and best practices. Collaborate with other departments to streamline inventory processes and reduce inefficiencies.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

Inspect incoming raw steel to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications. Ensure warehouse safety standards are met when handling and storing inventory.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work closely with warehouse, logistics, procurement, and finance teams to coordinate inventory management. Support procurement in managing supply levels based on forecasted demand and actual usage. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding stock availability and lead times.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. High school diploma or associate degree with relevant experience may be acceptable.

Experience:

2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management. Experience with ERP or inventory management software is highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions with accuracy and commitment to maintaining data integrity. Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong communication skills for collaboration across teams and departments; ability to adapt and respond to changing business needs.
