JOB TITLE:

Accountant - University Store

JOB PURPOSE: Perform advanced accounting functions and analyze financial information to provide results and recommendations between two accounting systems. Participates in budget planning and/or make budget recommendations and may supervise other office staff. Assists with opening and/or closing of the store.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States, as sponsorship for work authorization or work visas is not available for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform high-level accounting duties for the University Store. Assist with the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies and procedures for the department. Interpret and analyze financial information, prepare integrated financial reports for management and provide results and recommendations. Serve as a resource to University departments and outside agencies; determine project/program compliance and accounting of financial transactions; identify and resolve data input and reporting errors; provide information, interpretation and assistance to auditors and other outside agencies. Authorize or reject expenditure/disbursement of sponsored project funds in accordance with applicable statutes, policies and budgetary limitations; research complex data, analyze situation and recommend alternative solutions. Review and maintain accounting status of special accounts or financial reports. Other duties as assigned. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervise other office staff. Maintain filing system for records; review and analyze financial data relative to University Store. Attend meetings and coordinate activities with other departments. As directed by supervisor, oversee financial operation. COMPETENCIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or MIS/Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

1-year work-related experience

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:

None

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with cash handling and procedures Strong attention to detail and managing accurate accounting records Experience in customer service standards Ability to work within a team Experience with a variety of computer systems including point of sale and inventory control processes Ability to understand, manipulate and analyze data, and solve problems Ability to interact well with multiple levels of people including faculty, staff, administrators, students and vendors Experience providing excellent customer service in a retail environment and training others to do the same Verbal and written communication skills to interact clearly, courteously and effectively with individuals of varying backgrounds Resolve customer complaints and concerns Strong experience with Microsoft office programs with a focus on Excel Experience reconciling electronic financial software
