As an Accounting Director – Level 1, located in McLean VA, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.
This individual will report to the Space Systems Vice President and Controller and will oversee the monthly and quarter close process, provide technical GAAP accounting and financial analysis research, and lead the Sector’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance team and processes. This high impact and high visibility role will work closely with the Sector’s division business management organization in collaboration with the enterprise’s shared service centers and corporate planning and reporting. This role requires coordination with multiple stakeholders, strong analytical and communication skills, and an understanding of the company’s public financial reporting requirements.
In this job, you will:
Lead completion of month end financial reporting close activities for the Space Sector.
Perform and review analysis over monthly financial statements and reporting results to senior leadership.
Review quarterly financial information used to create the Company’s 10-Q, 10-K, and earnings releases.
Lead the SOX team and related sector SOX PMO requirements, processes, and controls.
Oversee the technical accounting organization and conclude on application of accounting standards to complex business transactions.
Provide guidance on revenue recognition accounting under ASC606, review estimates at completion (EAC), and quarterly earnings adjustments.
Provide guidance to divisions and business units to ensure reporting compliance.
Interface with financial shared services to support appropriate transactional accounting.
Participate with Corporate Financial Reporting and Accounting Consultation groups on existing and emerging financial accounting and reporting requirements to ensure sector alignment.
Provide Master Process Ownership of critical financial reporting SOX controls.
Develop, coach, and evaluate a team of direct reports, providing on-the-job training, prioritization of tasks, promote the free exchange of ideas, and foster a team environment.
Provide reporting input and support for business systems, including Costpoint, SAP and Hyperion, including thought leadership for business system upgrades.
Support leadership team with ad hoc requests, including opportunities for cross functional collaboration within the organization.
Prepare executive briefings and present to senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of professional experience in Accounting, Business Management and Finance including people management experience – OR – Master’s degree with 8+ years of professional experience in Accounting, Business Management and Finance including people management experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Experience in financial accounting and reporting.
Skilled in the use of MS Office Suite, SAP, Hyperion and Costpoint.
Experience presenting financial data to executive leadership.
Demonstrated success in developing and leading functional and cross-functional teams.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in financial accounting and reporting in Aerospace & Defense industry.
Strong GAAP accounting proficiency and research experience.

Salary Range: $173,300 - $259,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
