Job Overview
NYSERDA seeks a creative, self-motivated Sr. Project Manager to join the Clean and Resilient Buildings team as part of the Residential team. The Residential team is responsible for advancing solutions to increase access to clean energy solutions and the delivery of associated benefits to residents and building owners across New York State. The team delivers a number of initiatives designed to scale up the residential clean energy market. This position will manage two Federal grants that have been awarded to NYSERDA: The Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate grant and the Home Efficiency Rebate grant. Collectively, these grants are referred to as the IRA Home Energy Rebate grants.
Primary Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for the successful implementation of New York State’s IRA Home Energy Rebate grants.
Serve as a subject matter expert on the rules of the IRA Home Energy Rebate grants and manage the grants to ensure compliance with terms, conditions, and deliverables.
Closely track a $317M budget per Federal and NYSERDA requirements and ensure milestones for each funding tranche are met.
Lead regular meetings and communications with staff across NYSERDA who work on various parts of the grant and programs using grant funds.
Serve as a primary point of contact between NYSERDA and the Department of Energy
Manage contractors who assist with grant implementation.
Develop and execute on internal and external stakeholder engagement plans
Represent NYSERDA at public meetings and other forums including working groups.
Support tracking of metrics and reporting on accomplishments
Contribute to a team culture of openness and collaboration
Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Ability to perform all managerial and supervisory responsibilities with demonstrated experience fostering respect, diversity, equity and inclusion across the workforce.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 7 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years leadership experience such as leading a team or leading a project or leading a new initiative and a demonstrated record of successfully managing complex projects.
Strong professional writing skills, particularly for reports, presentations, options memos, and similar work products.
Familiarity with relevant energy technologies and policies
Experience with public presentations
Ability to be a self-starter and function well independently and in teams.
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in all duties.
Proven ability to anticipate needs in advance, multi-task, and plan ahead, as well as enthusiasm for new challenges.
Strong communication skills; excellent strategic planning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong work ethic and resolute integrity.
Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment
Proficiency with MS Office Suite required
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to manage workplans, budgets, and timelines, experience with federal grant requirements preferred.
Master’s degree with 6 years experience with a minimum of 2 years leadership experience such as leading a team or leading a project or leading a new initiative
