Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Perform work in accordance with travelers/operation sheets. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required. Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary. Responsible for care and use of calibrated measuring instrument and their timely return for required calibration. Assure proper CNC/DNC program operation. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems. Assure the traveler is properly signed for accountability. Responsibility and authority for quality of own work and properly accounting for completed work in the shop floor system. Handle components with care. Perform preventive maintenance on machines. Observe all safety requirements in the shop area and maintain good-housekeeping practices at all times. Perform all other duties as required. CNC Machinist must have the minimum of 3 years plus experience setup & operate CNC machines in an aerospace environment Prior experience with complex aerospace components (turbine engines) or overhaul & repair work preferred. Regularly required to stand; frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Required to occasionally sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch. Occasionally lift or move with assistance (hoist) up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
