CNC Set-Up Operator

Responsible for CNC Set Up with the ability for full change over and set up on different manufactures of CNC machines including HAAS and Doosan, maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies, and working closely with other departments within the organization to ensure optimal use of equipment and personnel. As a valued member of the production team the CNC Set Up Technician will also have the ability to train other operators as required. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Successfully setup proven / existing programs and processes with minimum supervision / guidance. Proficiency in setting up either vertical or horizontal CNC multi axis machining centers or multi turret lathes with multi-part holding fixtures including defining work and tool offsets. Setup and measurement of tooling in a variety of holders. Schedules production through the machining depart using travelers and with the available equipment and manpower to meet customer due dates. Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads. Train operators to properly operate and to perform preventive maintenance on both CNC equipment and computer components. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards. Uses CAD modeling to fabricate and design tools an fixtures. Analyzed tool usage including selection, design, and integration in order to reduce cycle time while maintaining quality output. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Demonstrates cooperative communication with other departments and functions of including production, machining, welding, purchasing, engineering, and other corporate leaders. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for contributions and leading by example; and exploring opportunities to add value to accomplishments new and existing jobs. Follow quality control standards to ensure meeting quality and quantity requirements. Maintains safe operations by adhering the safety protocols and regulations. Monitor wear of consumable tools and notify purchasing as required. Accurately report work performed. Keep work area neat and orderly and follow all safe work practice requirements. Maintain identification of all parts and materials and record location of same. Report abnormal machine operating conditions immediately. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications : High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and 3 years CNC experience strongly desired. Must be able to successfully operate an overhead crane Must be familiar wih CAD equipment Possess and practice good oral and written communication skills. Treat fellow co-workers with dignity and respect. Possess and utilize basic math skills and exercise superior organizational skills Prior CNC, production machine and/or welding experience highly desired. Maintain and exhibit a positive attitude toward our work and our work environment. Demonstrated experience with hand and power tools, banders, hoists, and other production equipment, as well as an overall mechanical aptitude Forklift certification required. Participate in training events (ie; Lockout/Tagout; HazCom; and overhead crane training) Knowledge : GD&T conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, coordination, inventory control, attention to detail, and sound judgment. EQUIPMENT LISTING (MACHINES, TOOLS & SOFTWARE): Basic personal computer skills that include the ability to send/receive e-mail messages. May be required to operate Computer, Email, Microsoft Excel, Printer, Copier, Fax Machine, Telephone, Scanner, and calculator, micrometers and gages, power tools, hand tools, forklifts and pallet jacks. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND DEMANDS: Moderate Lifting: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects. MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMAND: Close mental and visual attention to prepare and analyze data and figures, work on a computer, read, or control machines or processes at a rapid pace that requires close coordination and fine adjustment. Moderate mental and visual attention to perform manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work Environment: Work in production area exposed to seasonal temperatures, both high and low. Occupational Hazards: Proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, welding flash and exposure to potential injury without safe work practices and appropriate personal protective Equipment (PPE). Safety Equipment: May wear a variety of PPE, including safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes and other required PPE in accordance with working tasks. PPE may include gloves and hearing protection when performing certain functions Salary Description $23.00 to $ 28.00/ HR
